While I was painting, I was listening to a recording by the contemporary Christian vocal trio, Selah, of their very upbeat version of the Albert Brumley song, "I'll Fly Away". The lyric is "some bright morning", but I misunderstood it as "sun bright morning" which I thought was a very appropriate title for my painting. This somewhat abstracted landscape was painted in oil and cold wax on a wooden panel, which was first textured with an overall pattern of raised lines. The texture interacts with the image of a Southern pine, which is itself a somewhat common sight, but it is painted in a unique way, just as the miracle of grace transforms each of us, commonplace though we are, into new and unique creations in Jesus. The wooden panel has been routed with a "keyhole" on the back so that no hanging hardware is necessary. The painting has been given a satin varnish for long life and protection.
