Original artwork description:

In the summer, when the air was stifling and sticky, I escaped to the green of the Vondel Park in Amsterdam. A place of chilled out joy, of lives lived to a softer rhythm. Voices carry from afar, the distant clanging of a tram, pigeons in the sky, the sound of splashing water. It is a place for picnics and ice cream, a chance to sit in the cafés, to eat chips, to read, and as with the subject of this painting to sleep a while in the cool grass. The work is rich in realism, contrast and colour. It is joyful and tingles with sweetness. The work is on a canvas board and is therefore ideal for framing.
