Original artwork description:

Within Malhamdale in The Yorkshire Dales lies Gordale Scar. An immense valley of White limestone cliffs described as the 'jewel in the crown' of the national Park has wowed visitors for hundreds of years to include Turner himself.

Successive Ice Ages have carved the valley deeper and deeper over thousands of years to create the deep gorge you see in this expressive pastel painting which is layered and heavily textured, pastel over pastel with a technique called 'scumbling' (using the pastels on their sides and fixing between) to build layers and layers of colour. Detail is created with harder pastels so the entire painting is both accurate topographically and expressive at the same time.

When buying this painting it will be dispatched carefully packaged in a large thick cardboard box with the artwork generously mounted (3 inch surrounding the artwork at least) and cellophane wrapped with a back board secured behind the artwork that is the full size of the mount.

The original mounted artwork will then be placed between sheets of thick cardboard. Further cushioning with bubble wrap will be included to the sides of the artwork in the box to protect it.

I will sent via a tracked courier, insured to the value of the artwork.
