This rich, loosely oil painted landscape depicts a lovely, warm summer's day in Swaledale. The open gateway leads the eye across the rich pastures, punctuated by deep shadows, barns and dry stone walls then on to the hill beyond and up to the sky and clouds. The bright greens and yellows create a sense of the heat of the day.
