Original artwork description:

A painting of the second most Holy site for Muslims, the Sultan Tekke Mosque is set by the shores of an inland salt lake where annual flamingo migrations render it a dramatically colourful place. The intense heat of a Cyprus summer is mirrored in the strong contrasts of bright blue and orange (colour opposites). The palm trees reminded me of David Hockney's palm trees in California, which has similar intense clear blue skies.

Materials used:

Oil paint on linen canvas, primed with acrylic gesso, Damar varnish
