Original artwork description:

This painting uses Indian Yellow pigment as the main colour in this piece. The image was created like others in a tray of collected water and allowed to behave in its own way, with a little intervention from the artist, directing material to behave in particular ways, seeing how various liquids behave through forms of subtle manipulation.

Using Indian Yellow pigment highlights the industrial side of manufacturing, being a colour produced through industrial means, much in the same way Sulphur is now mainly produced as a by-product of industry, rather than collected from volcanoes, hence the title. Sulphur is also one of the most important elements to the growth of plants, yet through the industrialisation of crop production sulphur levels have been on the decline - an analogy to industrialisation.
