Original artwork description:

I have been visiting Snape for the past 30 years and have always been inspired by the Maltings, walking the surrounding foot paths and spotting the birds that live there. Sited on the banks of the River Alde it is the home of world-renowned Benjamin Britten Concert Hall and the Aldeburgh music festival. It is a beautiful site with craft shops, restaurants and an art gallery with boat trips available in the summer months along the tidal river. This watercolour mostly painted plein air, illustrates the view across the River Alde and reed beds under the vast Suffolk skies. Last year, after painting this picture we walked through the woods on the horizon line, spotting a Little Egret fishing in the river. The painting itself is painted on Bockingford 200lb rough paper with cobalt blue, light red, raw sienna and a tough of paynes grey in the shadows of the reeds.

Materials used:

Bockingford 200lb rough paper, Windsor & Newton Artist quality, cobalt blue, light red, raw sienna, paynes grey..
