An expressive and gestural painting of a woodland inspired by the Greek Myth of Daphne. After rejecting the God Apollo's advances, Daphne was pursued through the forest where through force of will she turned herself into a Laurel tree, just in the nick of time to escape Apollo's grasp.

This painting is an exploration into the swirling feeling of being chased or running through a woodland, where patches of light and escape are interrupted by trunks and limbs, but the overall feeling of the image is one of rapture and release.
