Study #221. Reflex.
have you ever wondered why artists write sketches? I suppose from idleness. That was a joke, in case anyone didn't get it.
When an artist begins a work, he sets himself some kind of task. Sometimes the depth of these tasks makes him paint whole cycles of large paintings. And sometimes it is just a fleeting impression that needs to be left in the memory. A glare or a reflex, an unexpected movement or a state of complete rest. Anything that might have excited the artist.
sometimes the meaning of the sketch is only clear to the author. That's what makes it so valuable.
My sketches are absolutely transparent and understandable to everyone. They are casts of moods and states of mind. There is no need to look for additional meanings. It is simply my emotional trace.
