Artwork description:

Architecturally, London has got to be one of the most diversely contrasting cities I know. You will see areas of sleek modern skyscrapers towering over remnants of walls built by the Romans thousands of years ago, or ornately decorated Victorian frontages standing side by side with medieval half-timbered frameworks next to a 60s brutalist structure. Every period of history is right there.
From choosing between science fiction modernity or quaintly historic there is one spot I come across whenever walking along the river and that is the imposing sight of the "City", the financial hub of London. Many of the tallest buildings squeezed into a relatively small area and when looking at it from the other side of the river it's a mass of steel, glass and concrete patterns and shapes all jostling for attention.
With this linocut my fascination is always concentrated on the endless patterns found within the wider range of the panorama. It is these shapes which then magically end up constructing themselves into the whole breathtaking shape that is the London skyline.
This is an artist's proof created by using a monotype base which the linocut block was then printed over.
This will be a limited print of 14 and each handmade print will be quite different due to the uniqueness of the monotype base.
Please be aware that due to the fact that these prints are hand pulled sometimes many times through a press that the margins can take a bit of a battering and so there could be some signs of this hard work. However this can all be hidden with professional framing.

Materials used:

Somerset white, oil based inks
