Original artwork description:

The series Strokes and Cracks consists of six pictures. On the gray background there are several traces of paint that were spontaneously and quickly thrown with a wide flat brush. Because crackling varnish was applied in some places beforehand, cracks appear in the traces of paint. The shapes created in this way are reminiscent of Asian calligraphy and invite you to meditate on aspects of space, time, movement, structure and reduction when you look at them. At the same time, the series focuses on the grammar of a visual language, the motifs of which are shaped by the style of the painter, the choice of painting medium and the inclusion of chance.

Materials used:

Lacquer, craquelure lacquer and acrylic paint on MDF, mounted on a wooden frame
