This is a calm dawn above "the artificail river" made by originally Czech shoe-maker Mr. Bata and his family. They made shoes, started a factory, built a city around the factory, with full infrastructure, started schools, hospital, railways, airport, bank, created film studios and then under dramatic historical circumstances moved away from the country. (This description is neither perfect nor complete because I find it extremly difficult to shrink into two correct sentences.)

14.000.000.000 :-) pairs of shoes were sold under Bata name which made the brand the biggest shoe-maker and shoe-seller in the history (source: the Guinness World Book of Records). Enjoy the calm, forseeable dawn on the photo that makes a fascinating contrast to the turbulent history.

Today, there is a fantastic trail for bicycles and roller-skaters around this artificial river.
