This New Forest scene shows cattle grazing along a streamside lawn in the Autumn sun. The oaks and alders have not yet taken on their Autumn colours.
The stream is the Ober Water that rises in the village of Burley and joins the Lymington River above Brockenhurst. The light and shadows across the stream add atmosphere to this oil painting which was started in the open air and finished in the studio. The frame is light grey with an off white slip edge.
