Original artwork description:

For me, the process of creating abstract art is a completely different process from creating figurative art. It is not more difficult, or elusive, tricky it's just different.

I usually work on four or five paintings at the same time so that I can keep them fresh. This painting is one of my more recent abstract acrylic paintings that I chose to recycle; an old figurative painting that was unfinished. Working quickly and intuitively, I first paint out any marks I dislike. Then I will turn them and select the most pleasing composition angle. The final piece may have elements of the figurative piece still showing through or it may be completely covered. In this painting I have let the colours and shapes develop naturally; with elements of the old painting remaining. The strange bird like figures on the left are unintentional and have an odd human quality about them. I am passionate about colour and spend a lot of time mixing colours that are complementary to create balance and harmony in my paintings.

This painting will be shipped on the stretcher securely in a reinforced envelope of polycarbonate sheeting. Please message me to arrange shipping off of the stretcher in a tube ready for framing. All shipping prices are estimated but rest assured that any overpayment charged will be refunded back to the customer once the painting has been shipped. All paintings are shipped with a certificate of authenticity. Questions about my paintings or practice welcome. Thank you.
