Original artwork description:

Stour valley way, Dorset
A relaxing walk in Autumn,
Taking in the scenery,
Uplifting colours coat the trees,
Soft delicate clouds over the pale cobalt blue sky,
A rustic earthy landscape.

Words and thoughts of last Autumn.
Original impressionist watercolour painting created on extra rough textured watercolour paper 425gsm 200lb bockingford.
I used my Holbein watercolours for this landscape and I used a wet on wet technique for the background. Then I applied with my sable hair brush the tree shapes - pressing, dabbing and dropping different variations of colours while the paper was wet. I then painted a definite horizontal line under the trees, like a platform or track where many years ago there was an industrial steam railway line. You can walk the Stour valley way for 64 miles it eventually ends at the Dorset coast. This particular scene is near Fiddleford. The reason it’s called Stour is it runs nearby the River stour it’s a haven for nature.

Materials used:

Extra rough textured watercolour paper bockingford 425gsm 200lb, Holbein watercolours, sable hair brushes, filbert brush, bushy hogs hair brush,
