Original artwork description:
This is a personal work based on my recollections of the stories my grandmother told me of an evil spirit that lured and attacked her brother on a hot summer afternoon - a time when the spirits are on the prowl. As a transplant to the US from India I experienced the angst caused by cultural and physical dislocation; with experience and time, the tensions between the pull of the homeland to the adopted land continue to shift and play into my work. Several recent paintings deal with my experience with change and the rate of transition in the 21st century.
