Original artwork description:

This painting started as a sketch on a calm day at Saint-Valery-en-Caux in Normandy, France. In reality, the lovers featured in the painting stood talking at the end of the pier for a very long time. Maybe it was a friendly happy conversation or maybe not. It wasn't until recently when I came to finish the painting, I decided to create a stormy sea and sky. It seemed obvious now that the relationship was rather more dramatic !

Drawn with fine willow charcoal and painted on heavyweight Clairefontaine acrylic paper.

Materials used:

Charcoal and acrylic paint on heavy acrylic paper
