Watching the rainstorm move across the horizon is mesmerising. The air is heavy with humidity, the grey veil in the distance moves inexorably across the landscape bringing with it either devastation or life-enhancing water. Which of those two is it? That depends on when it visited last and just how fierce it is.

As a child in South Africa I loved the drama of the summer thunderstorms. Seeing something like this on the horizon would have me wishing it would come in our direction.
