At last, the storm breaks, the rain unleashed just as my painting starts to take shape. At this point I normally stand back and carry on painting more cautiously, more consciously, rather than flowing freeform. It is also at this stage that I often lose the natural vibrancy and balance in a piece. I would like to have the courage to just stop and leave the piece as it is, unhoned, unpedicured, accepting it’s natural aesthetic:
