Original artwork description:

Stillness has been painted during the 2021 tight lockdown months, while we have been confined at home. Nature is a soothing balm at the best of times but when we have been isolated & locked in, its healing colours are all the more powerful. Bringing Nature into our homes is a way to feel a sense of peace & biofphylia has shown scientifically that images of nature have a huge effect on out wellbeing.

As I was painted the meditative process of conjuring up the sunlit meadow brought these thoughts to mind:

Stillness..

Walk with me to the meadow. As the day draws towards its close & the sun melts lazily towards the horizon, gilding the world with mellow light.
Come, sit with me.
Drop down amongst the grasses, where the world disappears.
Still your mind from the chatter of life, rest.
Let the golden light bathe your skin with iridescent warmth & brush away the day.
Breathe...
Feel the caress of fragrant air stroke you with the scent of earthy, sweet meadow grass. The gentle touch of feathery fronds, whispering against your palms.
Tune in to Nature’s harmony; Birdsong & the thrum of wings through the air, the muted buzz of a chubby bee meandering it’s way home, the air moving softly through the meadow.
Let your mind go, open to the healing balm of the ending day.
Let go...
Let all those thoughts subside & drift away in the breeze. Let nature wrap you in golden arms & smooth away your furrowed brow.
Slip away into that semi focussed place, where sound resonates gently through your mind & sight becomes a dreamlike haze.
Breathe...
Breathe in the golden light & let it cleanse all tension away.
Just take moment of stillness.
