As a boy, I wanted to compete in the Olympics; it wasn’t the gold medal that excited me, but the idea that I would be representing the USA.
I am acutely aware how our country started and all the trials and struggles the American people have been through. This painting comments on our journey as a people. We are united under one flag in spite of our differences.
This flag has scars of paint splatters. The fluidity and expressive nature of my brushwork is intend to portray the American journey and our complex history. America continues to be a work in progress, with every two steps forward it seems there is always one step back.
Acrylic on gallery wrapped stretched canvas. Edges are painted and the work may be hung straight out of the box or framed.
