Original artwork description:

This still life was inspired by the colourful tablecloth. I wanted the orange Gladioli to contrast with the purple and pinks of the cloth. A slice of Melon helped the resulting composition. I find I get inspiration from the patterns and colours of materials. Pastels have a vibrancy which I hope I have captured in this still life painting. This pastel was exhibited in the Society of Women Artists annual exhibition at the Mall Galleries London.
