Original artwork description:

A compact, dark still life, consisting of rich gold hues against a shadowy background. I was inspired by the lovely golden nashi pears in my garden, so began by arranging them with various objects in my studio, finally settling on the brass kerosene lantern as the colours matched so beautifully.

This work has a sense of quiet calm to it - the soft shadows and warm yellows harmonise to create a peaceful image. It harks back to simpler times, and speaks of long summer days picking fruit in vast orchards, or quiet evenings watching the sun set across fields of golden wheat.

This canvas is ready to hang.
