This painting was inspired by the beautiful orchid plant a friend gave me as house warming gift when I moved into my current home, Studio Cottage, here in Lincolnshire. I have a love of all natural forms and particularly like painting flowers and gardens. I love to place a still life near a window, I like the feeling of something else being beyond the arranged objects. The vibrant colours definitely give a sense of joy and light. I always include a few favourite things into the composition. Here features a little cut glass dish that always makes an appearance at Christmas and a very old terracotta plant pot that came from my Grandfathers house a very long time ago.
I have framed this painting myself, here in my studio, using a hand mitre saw. The frame is not perfect. The painting is available unframed upon request if preferred.
