Original artwork description:

A rich, dramatic still life featuring a vignette of aged brass objects and a deep red glass orb. This work was inspired by historic still life paintings, and the beautiful patina of vintage brass. I have used a warm, earthy palette to render the objects, creating a layered, autumnal tone.

I began by blocking in the shapes of the chest, lantern and glass orb, rendering the shadows in ultramarine blue. The darker ground was created using many layers of transparent glazing in blue and umber.

This work is oil on canvas and is ready to hang.
