Over the years I seem to have amased a small collection of retro coffee pots, perhaps slightly odd for someone who barely drinks coffee. I just adore the shapes of them, the angular handles and low spout, often adorned with wonderful retro patterns, and can't resist sneaking them in to grace the shelves next to the odd Midwinter or Meakin tureen! In this oil painting, I arranged a still life using one of my collection, together with a few stems, painting a loose and vibrant piece. The canvas is underpainted in a neon acrylic pink/orange layer - a favourite shade of mine which features in a number of works. The neon absolutely sings through the layers of oil paint. I defy you not to be cheered.
