A rich, layered still life painting of two vessels on a dark greenish black ground. To create this work, I began with a layer of burnt umber to give a warm tonal quality to the image. I then sketched out the objects, beginning with the brass brazier, then the glass bottle, gradually building up layers of glazing to create the rich, glossy finish of the glass and gold metal.
This painting was simply inspired by objects in my studio - the brass bowl I made myself some time ago using basic silversmithing techniques; the bottle was a found object.
The canvas is stretched onto a wooden frame and ready to hang.
