Original artwork description:

A rich, dark baroque-style still life painting with glass jar and sprays of wild Hawthorn berries. This painting was inspired by evening walks through the scrub at dusk, where profusions of ruby red berries upon the rampant hawthorn trees seem almost luminescent in the blue-ish pink light of evening. This painting began with a rust-coloured ground, from which I built up layers of transparent glazing to create the succulent scarlet hue of the berries, finally adding the green of the abundant leaves and sparingly dabbing white highlights onto the ceramic cup and glass jar to give them the appearance of a lustrous glossy texture.
