Heavily influenced by the shimmering moody lakes of Pauls' home county of Cumbria, Still Lake conjures the mood, atmosphere and feel of these deep lakes. In a district where the weather can change in seconds, an otherwise dark lake can be transformed into a shimmering and mesmerising stretch of water. And just as quickly can transform again with the shift of a grey cloud, or an atlantic squal coming down a valley or over a peak. Painted in Acrylic and oil on board, the painting is tray framed in painted wood.
