A portrait in the style of steampunk. I am always intrigued with this style, projecting a bit of past into the future. My aim here was to create a traditional style of portrait in charcoal of something futuristic looking though with elements only from the steam-powered era.
ABOUT MY WORK:
I am fascinated with aesthetics of beauty. In my work, I am constantly looking for opportunities and compositions that help create a timeless work of art. I like to design an artwork while considering where it is viewed from, which is usually standing a couple of meters away. Up close, the surface may appear chaotic, but when you step back, suddenly the whole picture comes to view looking like a three-dimensional object.
I aim for an emotional reaction in each piece--optimism, calmness, sadness, fear, content, mystery and so on. I work in a variety of mediums simply because I like them all. Each has its own strengths and it is useful to exploit them for each specific topic.
With my engineering background and keen interest in psychology, I naturally pay a lot of attention to detail while composing and creating my works. Often, each work takes a considerable amount of time to produce, but I love it, so I don’t mind. The craft is just as important as the creativity and I put every effort to make sure a collector of my work would feel as strongly as I do about the art I create. If I can achieve that, I will be happy.
