In S.E. Hinton's book the Outsiders, Johnny tells Ponyboy to "Stay gold." He refers to a poem by Robert Frost, which reminds us that "Nothing gold can ever stay." The pure innocence of our young spirit can become tarnished and worn by hardships of life. This painting is an interpretation of "staying gold," a golden sky over seas. May it always remind the viewer to hold a bit of gold inside, despite what tears us down.

This acrylic painting is finished with a satin varnish to protect it from UV rays and allow for cleaning with a soft cloth.
