A starling murmuration is a staggering natural spectacular. The starlings gather in huge flocks in winter months. It is hard to understand but their breeding numbers have fallen by 70%.
This image was achieved by working on three large copper plates of equal size. This enabled me to build up the dense mark making to interpret the starling murmuration.
The method used with this etching is soft ground and sugar lift aquatint.
