The stag beetle (Latin Lucanus) of the Stag beetle (Latin Lucanidae) is one of the largest beetles living on the European continent, since individual males of this species can grow up to nine centimeters in length. Today the beetle is listed in the Red Book and is protected by law. In 1982, the stag beetle, as an endangered insect, was listed in the second annex of the Bern Convention, and in 2012 it was chosen as insect of the year in Austria, Switzerland and Germany.
The ancient Romans, along with the Greeks, treated the stag beetle with special respect and even decorated their necks (as an amulet) with dried insect heads with protruding "horns".

Details: The painting was made on canvas stretched over cardboard and painted with mother-of-pearl acrylic paints. Decorated in a red-brown and gold frame, it can be immediately placed on the wall or on the table. The painting will be gift wrapped. Each work is signed on the back. The painting is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

Shipment details: Supplied in a cardboard box. The painting is covered with acid-free glassine paper, wrapped in bubble wrap, sealed in plastic, sandwiched between two pieces of foam or corrugated cardboard shipping inserts and placed in a strong shipping box.
