🎨 Subject summary:
• The area painted in 2021 here is around St Govan's chapel. This spot and the wider South Wales and pembrookshire coast is truly magical. Legend goes that a hermit in the 6th cenury hid in the cliffs of St Govans from pirates and the Chapel later erected was used to warn villagers against pirates. I am fascinated as an plein air painter by the interplay of the sky, sea, shore and the ancient chapel wedged in summer green hills resulting in this unique oil painting.
