Original artwork description:

This Yantra has been created with very unusual for me materials: the base of the painting is a wooden panel over which I glued a natural material… the palm tree skin.
One day after a storm (I live next to the sea) I saw on the ground many pieces of palm skin torn by the wind. I got an idea to use it for my art creation. I flattened it and got it dry, and then using GESSO for art creation I fixed it over a wooden panel creating uneven intricate surface.
Sri Yantra in the Sky was painted over that specially prepared surface absorbing all the irregularities of the natural fibres of the palm tree skin.
The Lotus of Sri Yantra floats surrounded by clouds, blue skies and little silhouettes of birds.
A tender palette of rose and blue hues was used to transfer the sensation of lightness, purity and freedom of a bird in the clare peaceful sky.

Sri Yantra is a form of mystical diagram originally used by one of the schools of Hinduism. It consists of nine interlocking triangles representing the cosmos and the human body. The triangles are circumscribed by three concentric circles composed of 8,16and 32 petals, representing the lotus of creation and reproductive vital force. The entire configuration is framed by the broken lines of an earth square, representing a temple with four doors open onto the regions of the universe.
