The contrasts of the materials - the smooth surface of the collage paper, the velvety surface of the scattered ashes up to the rough surface of the bitumen -, the contrasts of the colours - the rich black-brown bitumen and the bright white of the liquid acrylic paint - make the picture so interesting.
