Original artwork description:

I felt like painting a landscape, and a tree in my back yard volunteered . . . I chose the time of day when the afternoon sun slants down the side of the house and catches this tree in bright beams, throwing an interesting pattern of shadows against my neighbor's fence. The painting began in loose acrylic, which was overpainted in oils. A satin varnish has been applied, for long-lasting protection, and hanging hardware is already installed.
