Artwork "Spring in Munich", 2022
Watercolor on paper, 40x30cm

Promoting peace and love through the global language of art and bringing watercolour artists and art lovers together

Most Munich residents go to the mountains, lakes, spa centers, go in for all kinds of sports for the weekend.

I really wanted to walk around the city when there are fewer people and transport in it. The circles around the neighborhood are welling up, the road led to the National Museum of Bavaria. At the entrance, on the square, I saw magnolias, white as brides, blooming.

The image is of several white magnolia flowers with fully open blooms and visible stamen, set against a deep blue sky. Some petals are drooping, suggesting a sensation of a gentle breeze. The tight buds indicate that not all flowers have reached full bloom. The painting captures the translucent quality of the petals and their pure white color, contrasted with a hint of tender green in the flower centers. Of course, I couldn't miss it but photograph such a scene.

Later, without a shadow of a doubt, I took up my brushes and entrusted watercolors to convey that feeling of lightness, spring and faith that everything will be: peace, flowering, and further in the circle of life.

ABOUT THIS ARTWORK: CLASSIFICATION, TECHNIQUES & STYLES

Watercolor is a painting in which gum arabic binds transparent pigments revealing the support of the painting. The gouache, of identical composition, is opaque. A watercolor is a water-based painting on paper. We rarely speak of a painting for a work painted in watercolor. Watercolor paintings are considered to be a unique way to creatively represent dreams, illusions, emotions and luminous feelings using water soluble pigments. However, painting with watercolors can be difficult. It's a difficult medium to master, in large part because it can be ruthless and unpredictable. Mistakes are difficult to correct and its fluid nature makes it difficult to control. Yet it is these very qualities that give the medium its undeniable charm.
