Original artwork description:

This one of a kind non-figurative painting is a small wooden panel multilayered with several layers of encaustic (beeswax and Damar resin) on top of a collage is combined with shellac and ink, which gives it depth, luster and texture.
This piece has also been incised and brown and black color is added.
The sides are painted white. It can be displayed without frame and is ready to hang. Signed on the back. Painting size is 14x19,5x1,8 cm.

Encaustic art work holds up well, only a few cautions are needed: In normal circumstances it will not melt. But best not to place in direct sunlight or over a heat source. Simply rub the waxed areas with nylon hose occasionally to keep the shine.

Encaustic comes from the Greek word “enkaustikos” which means “to burn (in)” and is an ancient form of art. Each melted wax layer is mixed with resin for strength and body. An encaustic art piece is made up of many layers and uses clear natural beeswax or colored wax.

Materials used:

Pinewood, encaustic, oil pastel, ink and shellac
