Bulbs are quite amazing, are they not? They lie dormant and then , at the first sign of sun, up they come. I have lived for many years in warm or tropical climates so they are even more of a wonder and I can get quite obsessive about checking progress, so I imagine their little feet are doing the ballet down there and the heads are nodding along, all to the song of the little nightingale!
What is a drypoint? It means that with a sharp stylus I draw directly on the copper plate, in a very free way, raising a little burr, that the ink then adheres to, so that when the humid paper is put on top and rolled through the press, an imprint is made. Copper is a soft metal so the burr does not last long, making for short editions.
I then ink up the plate with all the colors, in a technique called a la poupee, and drypoints make for very soft ethereal colors, perfect for a spring print!
Spring ballet is printed on a heavy weight warm white printmaking
paper that measures 38 cm x 40 cm (15" x 16")
and the actual printed area measures 30 cm x 30 cm (12" x 12")
I have signed, titled and numbered the print in an edition of only 25 prints,
please note you might not receive the number in the photo.
I ship from my studio with many years experience in packing my art so it arrives safely, see my over 780 reviews.
Thanks for looking and Happy Spring!
