Original artwork description:

This piece is a rather unique piece in my collection, as it features a spiritual snake. Snakes are one of the earliest totems in the oriental culture, and they are also called the small dragon. This piece features a green Bamboo Pit Viper, and all around it peach blossoms are blooming. The snake in this piece is a spiritual one, as indicated in the poem below, which talks about the abilities of this powerful, magical creature with supernatural abilities.

Gongbi brush painting (or sumie) is a refined and meticulous style that has enjoyed high reputation for thousands of years. These paintings require more than 40 hours to paint.

👉Detail

- Original Gongbi Brush Painting, over rice paper
- Size: 46cm x 34cm / 18''x13''
- The painting contains signature and seal of the artist
- This painting has been hand-mounted, which is a 24h process that flattens the painting and enhances its integrity

👉Poem

"This blessed, mystical serpent,
Though broken, it can renew itself.
It flies without wings,
Moves without the need for feet.
Rising into the clouds and mists,
Wandering through mountains and peaks.
It offers forth this bright pearl,
Joining the ranks of the dragon family."

This poem uses imagery associated with a mystical snake or serpent, emphasizing its supernatural qualities like self-renewal and the ability to fly and move effortlessly. It suggests a transformation or elevation, with the serpent becoming part of the powerful and noble dragon lineage. The "bright pearl" represents a precious offering or symbol of its worthiness.

Materials used:

Rice Paper, Ink, Paint, etc.
