Original artwork description:

I have been visiting this canyon since the 1980's. The location is called 'Providence Canyon'. It is now a state park near Lumpkin Ga. I have always drawn inspiration from it's amazing views, its also gained name the 'Little Grand Canyon'. The mid to southern part of Georgia is mostly made of deposits of silt and clay. This area was covered by the sea and would leave different colored clay as the mountains of the Appalachians erroded. Later the land erroded and cut through these layers. You can see these layers by looking at photo's.

This area was once the homeland of the Creek Native Americans. A decendent of Native Americans
once saw my painting and expressed how he could feel his 'Fathers' in it. From then on I called the paintings "Spirit of the Fathers".

Materials used:

oil
