Charles II, sphynx cat, is a long, slender and bizarre cat sculpture made from natural calabash wood.
Part of the CalbinoOz series.
A fairly light sculpture, the calabash has been emptied of its contents, seeds and skins so that it can be exported without fear to the sanitary level worldwide. To make it heavier again, the calabash was filled with red clay balls.
His ears are oversized like those of all sphynx cats, and his eyes have a slightly worried look, as the world becomes strange...
Curiously, he wears a long white ribbed sweater, and the rest of his body, made of worked natural calabash wood, resembles a long dress.
Materials: calabash wood, surfine wood cellulose, blown glass, acrylic paint and water-soluble oil, protective varnish.
Unique piece signed under the dress.
