Original artwork description:

Special Studland, Dorset
Mauve, lilac and silvery blue to grey hues,
I see the beautiful colours of the sky and duck egg blue waters,
The abundance and sweet, vanilla scent of the yellow gorse bushes,
A small woodland on the hill, hiding Studland village,
Walking the trail to the sea in Spring.

Words and experience of my inspiration at the Dorset coast.
Original impressionist watercolour on cold pressed textured watercolour paper bockingford 300gsm 140lb. I used a wet on wet background mixing with three colours. I then apply with a sable hair brush the horizon of the sea. When I was satisfied with getting to that stage , I used a fan brush pressing the pale cadmium yellow hue over the wet on wet washes to bring out the yellow gorse. I had to be careful not to loose too much of the bay. I then dabbed and dropped in some greens and earthy purple for the woodland on the hill. I used my fan brush for the grasses in the foreground and etched out the paint with my nail.
Any opportunity I just have to get in my electric blue leaf car and drive to this amazing and closest part of the coast from North Dorset.

Materials used:

Textured watercolour paper bockingford 300gsm 140lb, Fan brush, filbert brush, sable hair brush, small chinese hake, Windsor and Newton watercolours,
