Original artwork description
This paper and wood original dot collage is made from found imagery from vintage text books and atlases.
Textures of moon craters, maps of the stars, asteroids, stars, and rockets all feature in this mixed media artwork.
Some of these little images are from vintage books of up to approximately 70 years old. I am particularly drawn the vintage imagery that was created using old litho print methods the old bookplates pictured often have halos or slight offset colours.
I have carefully extracted the old plates, bonded them onto birch plywood boards giving them a textured hand-painted surface texture. The sheets are then laser cut into 256 18mm dots.
The artwork comes ready framed in white.
