Original artwork description:

This piece is a result of a trip to the southwest. I was struck by the colors in the desert and also in the native Indian artifacts that were to be seen there. The piece is a watercolor collage. Originally I made two similar pictures and wove them together; I cut them at the joints, and lifted off the top layer that became Southwest Mosaic I. The underneath layer remaining was Southwest Mosaid II.
