As you approach the St Kilda group the tide runs strongly round Boreray to the NE and Soay to the NW. This frequently causes turbulent seas in the vicinity of both islands and this is the view on a breezy day as you pass to the SW of Boreray en route for the comparative shelter of Village Bay.
