This charcoal drawing was at a time I was interested in the way animals looked at the world an imagined what they must be thinking, if they could think conceptually, about the state of the world of humans. I was drawn to their gaze and the links we have with animals and their use as symbols for our own mythology.
This Owl becomes symbolic of Sophia, the Goddess of Wisom. The image uses only charcoal in such a way to explore the way our mind merges black and white together to form the illusion of depth and the tones between.
