Growing up as a music-obsessed teenager in the 90s meant that I went through several Walkmans to play my cherished cassette tapes on. I'm still a huge fan of music but in the digital age of streaming and downloads I sometimes miss owning a physical, tactile object to play music from.
This pop art style painting shows the incredibly colourful Sony WM-F5 Sports Walkman in yellow. It was released in 1984, was 'splash proof', and capitalised on the growing trend to use the players during workouts. I love this style of colourful, chunky 80s Walkman, and I'll be painting a few more.
This is the latest in a new series of artworks looking at nostalgic objects from the past, painted and illustrated using the distinctive graphic / pop art style I usually use to paint food. It would make a great gift for any music lover or fan of retro items.
It is painted in acrylics and Posca pen on thick high quality A4 paper. PLEASE NOTE: the painting doesn't come framed, but I've taken photos of it in a black A4 frame for display purposes. So the third picture best represents what you'll be buying.
Size -
8.3 inches x 11.7 inches

I've been inspired to create work like this by classic pop artists like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Patrick Caulfield.

I can also do paintings to order, so if you'd like anything in a similar style, or want a sold out piece repeating, then just message me and I can create an order for you through ArtFinder.
