Original artwork description:

This panting is part of Fragment of Spain, a collection I created to celebrate the sights, sounds, flavours and smells of Barcelona, where I was born. The inner life of lemons intrigues me. Their shiny and waxy skin conceals the complexity of their flesh, which, when examined closely, resembles an intricate set of caves. This painting shows their inner juiciness, while playing with the effects of light and dark on their flesh and skin. The technique used, which is inspired by the teachings of the Old Masters, creates an image which is luminous, rich and three-dimensional.

Materials used:

Oil paints and varnish
